Summary

Sixteen-year-old Iduna harbors a dark secret。 On the surface, she is an Arendellian village girl, an aspiring inventor, and the best friend of Prince Agnarr, but she is also secretly Northuldra。

Ever since the day the forest fell, Arendellians have despised and distrusted Northuldra with a vengeance。 No matter that the Northuldra-along with some of Arendelle's own-have been trapped in the Enchanted Forest behind an impenetrable wall of mist since the day of the battle。

Iduna doesn't know why the mist refuses to part, or why it descended to begin with。 The only clear thing is that she must keep her identity from everyone, even Agnarr。 Her life depends on it。

Fortunately for her, Agnarr doesn't know that Iduna is the Northuldra girl he saw seemingly flying on a gust of wind all those years ago, the day of the celebration turned disaster。 The day Agnarr lost his father, the king。 The day Agnarr himself almost died。

What Agnarr does know is that Iduna is a true ally in the face of his royal responsibilities and the expectations of an overbearing council and a well-meaning regent who will rule in Agnarr's place until he turns twenty-one and assumes the Arendellian throne。

As Iduna and Agnarr grow ever closer, however, friendship is no longer enough。 If only falling for each other didn't mean risking their futures: Iduna's as a hidden-in-plain-sight citizen of Arendelle, and Agnarr's as imminent king。

But for a chance at true love, the risk might be worth taking

This was a cute origin story for Anna and Elsa’s parents。 It was a great book to get back into reading!

This book is all about Elsa and Anna’s parents, how they met and their lives together。 It wonderfully ties in various details from both films, with nods to song lyrics occasionally and was just fun to read。 It only took a few hours。

Best book ever!! I am an absolute Frozen/Frozen 2 and Disney fan, and this book was just what I wanted! I have been so interested in finding out about Anna and Elsa’s parents, and when this book came out I just had to get! And I am glad I did😃

I enjoyed this book!! I love the frozen movies and frozen 2 is my favorite of them。 The author is doing "an original tale", she did a great job filling in missing pieces to the puzzle, if you will。 The details, carefully woven throughout the story were beautifully done。 However there is a reason this in the young adult section not the young reader or kid section。 I would rate this for 14 and up, not for under 13, and here's why。 The vocabulary used at times throughout the book to describe agnar I enjoyed this book!! Disney needs to make this into a movie, or a short, or a series on Disney plus immediately!!

I listened to this as an audio book。 I didn’t realize it was over 300 pages long。 My 4yo listens to audio books in the car so I checked this out and immediately realized it is definitely for older kids。 She enjoyed it but it was way too long for her。 I enjoyed the telling of the story between the two characters and hearing their voices。 I liked how the story added little details about things from the movies like the trolls and Christofs people。 It was really cool! i went into this one lowkey expecting to be disappointed by cheesy, lazy writing as a means for another frozen cash grab。 and yet, i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed this novel! i always enjoy a good “dive down deep” (ha) into the lore of stories, and this definitely delivered (and bonus points。 for all the frozen easter eggs- i appreciated them loads!) 4/5 make this instead of frozen three please and thank you ❄️🍂🔥🪨✨

Such a good book!I absolutely fell in love with the story line! I like how they aimed this story towards older kids (and adults) by adding more mature scenes in。 It made it more of an adventure by knowing that it was going to be a bit different compared to all the other other frozen books I've read in the past。 After reading the book, I just had to watch the frozen movies again to get the whole picture of what was happening。 The movies made a bit more sense when it came to the parents and where Such a good book!I absolutely fell in love with the story line! I would love if this was animated into a movie, but I think it would ruin the magic of the book it's self。 It's so fun to read and I've got to say that those romantic scenes did keep me interested in what was happening。 I would probably recommend this book for 12+ as it does contain some scenes that I don't think would interest younger readers under 12。。。 。。。more

I was so excited to read this book, but I actually stopped after a few pages, beacause it didn't make any sense if you had actually watched the movies。 (Now follow sort-of-spoilers if you have not read the first ten pages)。 The wind spirit got the name 'Gale' in Frozen 2, there is no way Iduna could've known that name。 And the Iduna in the book was nothing like the one in the movies, the book Iduna was childish and impulsive。 I really hoped it would get better, but I read somewhere that there we I was so excited to read this book, but I actually stopped after a few pages, beacause it didn't make any sense if you had actually watched the movies。 (Now follow sort-of-spoilers if you have not read the first ten pages)。 The wind spirit got the name 'Gale' in Frozen 2, there is no way Iduna could've known that name。 And the Iduna in the book was nothing like the one in the movies, the book Iduna was childish and impulsive。 I really hoped it would get better, but I read somewhere that there were a lot more inaccuracies throught the book。 And so I stopped。 。。。more

2。5 stars - Kinda basic and straightforward, but Gerda is the MVP of this story。 It seems like a cop out for Iduna to already be an orphan before the events of the Battle of the Dam so they wouldn't need to flesh out the Northuldran aspects of her character, but I can't say I didn't expect something like that bc it's Disney-approved after all。 2。5 stars - Kinda basic and straightforward, but Gerda is the MVP of this story。 It seems like a cop out for Iduna to already be an orphan before the events of the Battle of the Dam so they wouldn't need to flesh out the Northuldran aspects of her character, but I can't say I didn't expect something like that bc it's Disney-approved after all。 。。。more

Frozen superfan here! I watched both movies before reading this and am feeling the urge to watch them again now that I have finished the book。Frozen 2: Dangerous Secrets is the book I didn’t know I needed。 It took little moments peppered throughout the movie and expanded upon them。 It helped me to truly understand Elsa and Anna’s parents and their reasoning behind their actions。 Not only did they have good reasoning, but they had both experienced their own versions of being asked to “conceal, do Frozen superfan here! I very much enjoyed this story。 It is not easy to write a tale when the end, especially such a bitter one as that of Agnarr's and Iduna's, is known to the audience。 It was a well constructed love story with a bit of mystery build up in the conflict - granted sort of predictable for a more advanced reader。 Honestly, I found myself not wanting to get to the end of this book because I knew how it would end : the two facing a tragic end after the happily ever after。 I very much enjoyed this story。 It is not easy to write a tale when the end, especially such a bitter one as that of Agnarr's and Iduna's, is known to the audience。 It was a well constructed love story with a bit of mystery build up in the conflict - granted sort of predictable for a more advanced reader。 Honestly, I found myself not wanting to get to the end of this book because I knew how it would end : the two facing a tragic end after the happily ever after。 。。。more

This was such a great story。 I have always loved Frozen, but this story makes me love it even more。 I loved reading a book from Agnarr and Iduna's perspective。 Knowing more about them and their history helps give more perspective and depth to who they are。 Such a beautiful story, highly recommend this to anyone who loves Frozen。 This was such a great story。 I have always loved Frozen, but this story makes me love it even more。 I loved reading a book from Agnarr and Iduna's perspective。 Knowing more about them and their history helps give more perspective and depth to who they are。 Such a beautiful story, highly recommend this to anyone who loves Frozen。 。。。more

WOW。 This book is beyond fantastic! It is a beautiful romance with a dash of adventure。 I adored getting to know Iduna and Agnarr more in depth。 Naturally, being a huge Frozen fan helped me appreciate each detail。 That being said, I think the book would be enjoyable independent of the movies。 I wish I could rate it more than five stars!

This was a fun story。 It started off magical, there were a few encounters with the rock trolls, and then the ending tied in with the movies。 Other than these few short instances, it was more of a YA romance story than a magical fairy tale。 Nothing too unique about the romance tale, but it was a sweet read。Audiobook - the narrators were nice。 Didn't feel cohesive, but I guess that felt more natural。 The male narrator sounds extremely familiar to me, but I've not heard him before, nor seen the few This was a fun story。 It started off magical, there were a few encounters with the rock trolls, and then the ending tied in with the movies。 Other than these few short instances, it was more of a YA romance story than a magical fairy tale。 Nothing too unique about the romance tale, but it was a sweet read。Audiobook - the narrators were nice。 Didn't feel cohesive, but I guess that felt more natural。 The male narrator sounds extremely familiar to me, but I've not heard him before, nor seen the few movies/TV shows he's been on。 。。。more

Give me all the Disney backstories! I love learned what makes a character who they are。 Especially if it’s a Disney story! Frozen has always been a favorite story of mine and the Northuldra people were always so fascinating to me。 This story just added to my love of the characters and enriched this amazing story。

Of the four Frozen books (YA and middle grade) that have been released since the first films release, this one is my favorite。The author does an AMAZING job at bringing in Frozen lore and using them with purpose。 Agnarr and Iduna become real people through this book, and I hope their story can be told in a visual format somehow so more people get to experience it。

I LOVED THIS BOOK。 I don't usually like prequels without the main characters but this backstory was so beautiful and well thought out。 I really enjoyed that certain elements from Frozen and Frozen 2 were included, like the trolls, "conceal, don't feel," and Northauldra。 I plan to read this book to my niece。 I LOVED THIS BOOK。 I don't usually like prequels without the main characters but this backstory was so beautiful and well thought out。 I really enjoyed that certain elements from Frozen and Frozen 2 were included, like the trolls, "conceal, don't feel," and Northauldra。 I plan to read this book to my niece。 。。。more

I thouroughly enjoyed reading this book。 I saw this book on the bookshelves at Walmart a while back, and thought of reading it, as I saw Frozen 2 and was really curious about Agnarr and Iduna's love story。 I saw a youtube video which reminded of it, and I spent the whole reading it lol。 I'm so glad I did, since I really enjoyed reading their personalities and getting to know them, rather them just being nothing more than Anna's parents。 I was surprised to find out they were spunky and silly and I thouroughly enjoyed reading this book。 I saw this book on the bookshelves at Walmart a while back, and thought of reading it, as I saw Frozen 2 and was really curious about Agnarr and Iduna's love story。 I saw a youtube video which reminded of it, and I spent the whole reading it lol。 I'm so glad I did, since I really enjoyed reading their personalities and getting to know them, rather them just being nothing more than Anna's parents。 I was surprised to find out they were spunky and silly and very playful, just like Anna。 The book is filled with them just acting silly, playing hide and seek, doing silly dances etc。 The book filled in the questions I had about the movie。 Their love story was just the cutest, typical of any YA love story。 This book is YA, though I would argue it younger YA/older MG。I though initially it was middle grade, though the scenes b/w them were typical YA ,a little more kissing than I anticipated。 I think if it wasn't Disney, the author might have put out more lol。 The love story is what I enjoyed the most ,and I LOVED the references it made back to the movies。-Conceal, don't feel is referenced many times and is used by Agnarr as a motto。I was surprised to learn it was taught by his regent, and it is so deeply engrained in him I understand why he told Elsa all those years-Do the next right thing is taught to Agnarr from his friend stuck in the mist-I LOVED the chocolate reference。 There is a scene where Iduna sneaks chocolate from a table at a ball, which I think correlates to Anna singing about stuffing chocolate in her face-The most hilarious I found is that the way Kristoff tried proposing to Anna with the reindeers ,IS EXACTLY HOW Iduna proposed to Agnarr。 I loved finding out more information about the story, a few thoughts I had were-I had wondered why the parents never told Anna or Elsa they were half-Northaldran。 Turns out Iduna didn't even tell her husband literally until A SHORT WHILE BEFORE THEY LEFT FOR THE VOYAGE。I thought she would tell him before the wedding, but seriously in the 21 years they were married, she never had one moment to tell him? I find it hard to believe。-I liked reading about Rita, agnarr's mom。 She has a tragic story, turns out she was deeply depressed and unhappy stuck in a loveless marriage。 Maybe Anna or Elsa could meet her in the future!?-It really seems the book is trying to justify them locking Elsa up, in the ship, Iduna even questions if they made the right choices, and Agnarr says they did what they thought was right。 I'm not sure what to feel about them, since I never felt they were terrible parents。 The general consensus is they were terrible parents, so idk? Then again, what do I know。 I could be wrong 。。。more
